Although I never have anyone drop in after the dinner hour,
I would be receptive to any friend or neighbor. So long as
they would stay a short while and not overstay their welcome.
I usually do stay up late, so I doubt I'd have any ruffled feathers
anyway. So an evening visit would probably be welcomed on
most nights. I can say that, because I don't think anyone would
come that late.
Once we did have company from out of state arrive late.
And they knocked on our door at around 12:30 on a work
night. I remember being so half asleep, I closed the door after
seeing who it was. And as I was starting to turn and walk back
down the hall, it clicked finally there was actually someone at
the door, and our company at that. They found it very funny
that I closed the door in their face. We ended up visiting for
another hour, before I showed them where to sleep after
rousting our children out of bed to accomodate them. I think
our kids took to the sleeping bags that they'ed brought along.
So it all worked out fine. A few years later, we kinda paid
them back, arriving late in the evening, after they'ed gone to
bed. Luckily they had the hidebed opened and waiting. And
they wanted to get back to sleep. So we decided to talk in
the morning. I should have made the same arrangement
myself earlier and didn't. But I'm a softie. LOL

If it is Sunday threw Thursday, I don't really mind someone coming over that late. But I would rather they call me first and then stay for just a little while, like maybe an hour and then leave. As I have to get up early the next morning and go to work.

But now if it is Friday or Saturday, no problem, stay as long as you like, but still call me first before coming over.

I am not receptive but if someone knocked on the door, I would answer and they could come in a few minutes. The circumstances would determine if I let them stay 20 minutes or explained that it is our bed time and we would love them to come back another time earlier.

Anyone coming over to MY place after 10 PM , without FIRST calling and getting the OK, had BEST be having a life or death emergency or have a check for a million dollars to award me from some dumb contest. Otherwise, they need to be prepared for a severe tongue lashing.

I'm fine with it - I live on the west coast, and so it's a lot earlier for me.

Now I had a relative on the east coast who used to call at 8AM EST. I was very much *not* receptive to that!

This is NOT a "time" that I would describe as appropriate. Unless I knew that a person was expected to arrive at that time, I would be thoroughly "pissed." Now, if a family member or friend had an emergency, they could appear on my doorstep at any time. I would not be pissed. I would do all that I could to assuage their concerns and get their "minds" settled. Peace, Love and God Bless.

some mormons were out walking around past 8 pm the other night-- I got into a wee little debate with them....and then went on their way- but I was astonished to see them go around "bugging" people that late! They asked me if I could point them in the direction of someone who would want to listen to them and I said "NO! I wont point you in the direction of anyone! I would share the gospel with them"

Lights are out. Door is locked. And we are deep in our slumber by 10 pm. Alarm goes off around 5:45 am.
