Please help, List some key reasons for the Youth unemployment rate being four or five times higher than the general unemployment rate.

1) Parents planning for their college--they don't NEED to work to go to college
2) So many activities--colleges look favorably at students who are in many extracirricular activies
3) Economics--let's face it, it's tough to get a job in our economy.
4) Unrealistic ideals of a job--a 16 year old a few years ago would have no problem doing dishes for a restaurant. Today they want to make $10.
5) The internet--why work when you can cruise on the internet all day instead?

They are the last to be hired, and because the only stay for a short time before quitting, they absorb a large fraction of job cuts.
They have little or no experience and employers prefer experienced workers.
Most are also in school, so they can only work summers and restricted hours
They will not be long term employees because they will want something better in a few years.
They are unreliable because the are young, and most don;t really need the money.
