I read it. But I hope you read it; otherwise you'd be cheating. Just think of the title alone. That should give you a hint. Then think of the time when it was written (check the date). Sometimes the best way to figure out a thesis is to think about whether the main character changes from the beginning of a book to the end. Did she change? If so, why? Was it her experience? Was it her knowledge? Something someone did? Something she did? That should get you started. It's best if you ask these questions while you're reading.

I've read it, as well as annotated it, discussed it, and written about it to the death. What kind of theses do you need to formulate? Be more specific about the assignment. In general, think about the society, the differences between Edna and her society, the men in her life as well as how they make her feel, the importance of water, the importance and role of art in society, Edna's relationship with her husband and children, the two very different settings and the events that take place at each, the things that cause Edna pleasure and pain (as well as who/what is responsible for how she feels), and the ending.

Also pay close attention to who Edna is in the beginning of the novel and who she becomes, as well as how the point of view changes from the beginning to the end (this is very important)

How about the idea that the realization of one's helplessness and restlessness actually makes one more helpless?
