Yes try a church, or go to local goverments office for aide to childrens and families. They will help you find housing, a job, and maybe some food help like foodstamps. Not sure about your sons that 18 though, but its worth a shot the same thing happened to me I sold all my furniture and what i could on craigslist it helped so much, so i could afford a apt, still not quite making it, but at least theres a little hope. My opinion if you sell the house and have money left dont pay the debt (credit cards etc..) use the money to establish yourself, not like the bill collectors will be homeless you know. Think of yourself and kids first. i learned the hard way trying to save my credit which is worthless now. Good luck to you.

If no relatives nearby...start looking for an apartment (a small one) right way. If you work at least you wont have to worry about paying the rent. Go to you local housing authority and they'll probably be able to give you some "affordable housing" leads. Stay positive, positive energy yields positive results.

I am willing to BET that you can find an apartment you CAN afford. There are usually local apartment guides at the front door to your local grocery store. The 18 year old son should get a JOB and either pay you rent, or find his own place.

Idea 1
Something safe and immediate you can do an extended stay hotel that works out to be able the same as rent.
Idea 2
Start looking for an apartment or rental home now to move your things into. Deposit and first months rent should be $1,000 (small apt)-$2,000 (Larger house) for move in.

Contact a local church. At the very least they should be able to refer you to a governmental agency.
