Though I love our language, I wouldn't call it pretty. Pretty are the romance languages...spanish, french, or italian. There is a sound they have that is beautiful when spoken. Every language has a sound and every language is probably beautiful to those who speak it. But English is English, nothing special but made worse with slang. We abuse our language and turn it into something terrible at times.

I am American but a lot of the people in my family do not speak English they speak Spanish and other variations of native languages found in the South. I feel that it is a nice language and has tones and such that can present an eloquent speech or poem. I even love American English due to its varying dialects from the combination other ethnic groups and borrowing from those. So yes, it can be considered pretty even though it is not a "romance language."

I'm quite partial to English, it can be very eloquent... not sure about 'pretty' though! :-) American accents vary wildly - some are very nice, some are quite irritating (IMHO, FWIW).
