We've made more enemies. Legitimized aggressive, non-diplomatic reactions. Ignored our responsibility to find peaceful ends to conflicts. And we haven't eliminated any of the original threats that brought on 9/11. I'd say its more dangerous for us.

Just my opinion but I would say no, the "world" is not safer now than then.

No doubt about it.
If George Bush didn't go after the Islamic Terrorists, we would be asking: WHY didn't he do it when he had the chance?
It is like the old question: What would have happened if some went after Hitler BEFORE he gained excessive power?
NOW we know!
The LEFT would have complained that Hitler's Germany was unfairly suppressed for no proven reason!

Nope.

Never is when you knock down a wasp nest to kill them.
Always more dangerous in the short run.

Better than letting them spread.
