Buy yourself a 25 cent bottle of table salt, and scrape at the weekds to break their stems somewhat, pour salt on the area, and the plant will die out very quickly for you. Salt isn't good for plants, and it's great to get rid of weeds in cracks.

ORTHO Season Long is what we use. It keeps the weeds gone for around 6 months. We don't like any other brands.

There is a product that claims 'seasonal'. It does work, but I have to use it twice a year (not once as they claim). I use it on sidewalk cracks, driveway & patio spaces.

You are only killing the weeds, not the seeds, or any that blow in later. Either patch the holes or use Preen.

"Grass and weed killer" works well, but it is not permanent either. You might need to fill in the cracks with concrete or asphalt sealer
