I lived in Reno for 11 years and I didn't like it much. It was fairly boring. On the good side it only takes 10 minutes to get anywhere from any point. It is a smaller community so one is more inclined to do community events like the Rib Cookoff, Hot August Nights or any other smaller events. Pretty short drive to Tahoe, and weekend trips to San Francisco. Snows seldom but Reno was hit by major storms a few years back. I enjoyed swimming in the Truckee River which has become a poplular spot for swimming. Overall an ok place to live but I wanted to leave the second I got there and the entire time I lived there. Great place for people with lower expectations.

well, I lived in South Lake Tahoe and Carson City for 12 years, so I know a little about Reno- not much, but a little! I think it's a pretty nice place to live- I have lots of friends there who love it. It's more "normal" than Las Vegas and has a little more happening than Tahoe or CC. It's a nice size city with lots of amenities and people live a good distance from the "gaming" so it doesn't even need to be a part of their lives. The schools are pretty good, the people are pretty nice- it's a good place!

Reno is much sleeper than Vegas.
Also a lot smaller than Vegas.
Reno is also more down home like, and less of hustle and bustle way of life.
It also has a real winter, where Vegas does not.
In relation to a destination, Vegas is much better now than Reno.
Reno used to be the place to go, a long time before Vegas became popular.
But, since Vegas has grown so much the last 20 years or so, Reno has slowly dwindled away.
