In case they prick themselves. Did you know doctors wont do the injections? It is against their ethics to cause harm.

They DON'T sterilize needles for lethal injections.
They buy regular, standard needles from a medical supply outfit, and these generic needles are already sterilized as a matter of routine.
They could buy non-disposable needles and reuse them, but they would have to at least wash them, as the substances going through them, which could include blood that backed up, dries inside the needle and this would cause malfunctions and expose the worker to unsterile substances as well.
So it is easier, and safer for the executioner, to use standard sterile needles.

stupid, isn't it, giving such consideration to murderers. In TN they just had a "to-do" about the lethal injection procedure being "too painful" and stopped executions until the issue was resolved. Well, they didn't stop them, they decided to use electrocution until further notice. Now, how can it feel better to be shocked to death rather than getting a shot to put you to sleep and then a shot to stop your heart after you're asleep???

Because the convict could get a lethal disease that could kill him before the lethal injection gets the chance..

They don't actually sterilize the needles, what they use are prepackaged needles that come sterilized (they don't make the re-usable kind anymore).

Now, that is truly hilarious !
Actually I believe when they are manufactured, the final step is sterilization before packaging.

I'm sure they do. I know they use alcohol before they put the other tubes in. How ironic. I say stab em with a hot poker, rub some lemon juice in em, then proceed.

I think it's crap that they put them to sleep first before they administer the drug that paralyzes their breathing. I think it would be more interesting to reverse that. A little payback.
