Thanks guys, I feel better about going all out now.

I love what I do. I rarely by supplies for students, our work room is backed with them. Most are now, though it was a problem in the past.

I do buy quite a bit for my classroom though. However I also have great parents who donate things as well. All you have to do is ask politely and not ask for anything more than about $5. Though you will learn what parents are willing (and able) to help out more.

PJ Day is not about being professional, so don't worry. You can either go all out and make their day (bunny slippers, hair in rollers or pigtails, flannel pjs with animals on them), stuffed teddy bear .... or tone it down by just wearing a bathrobe over your usual clothes. The kids will be thrilled if you get goofy.

If the teachers are invited to join in the fun of pajama day, then why would you need to look professional? I'm sure you want to dress appropriately, so matching flannel pajamas with a cute pattern or print and slippers, and maybe even a robe if you feel a little uncomfortable. Pigtails would be a nice touch if you have longer hair...

PJ day IS about being fun...but I'm kindof with you, I could never go all out. (But I taught 8th grade, so I might have felt a little sillier with 1st graders.)

I usually wore a pair of flow-y comfy pants with a PJ shirt or long-sleeve T-shirt and slippers. It's what I wear to bed most of the time anyway.

You could were a pajama shirt and normal pants with house slippers, that would look nice.

i am still considering my major in school and thought about teaching. do you like teaching elementary school? Also, i heard that you have to pay out of pocket if the students do not have school supplies, is this true? anything else i should know about?

I used to wear my fuzzy bunny slippers with my normal school clothes. It was enough to show my participation without going overboard.
