ok if that is the neutral safety switch... would that make it down shift sometimes when I drive??? Or is that a whole nother problem?

try adjusting the nutral safety switch first before replacing it, it's on top of your brake pedal and you need to hold the brake pedal down with one hand and push both switches in as far as they will go in their holder and then pull the brake pedal back, that will adjust the switches. The tranny shifting down when you are driving would have nothing to do with the neutral safety switch.

Yes, it's highly likely that it's simply the Neutral Safety Start Switch.
