True: All of my holidays are ruined because I'm in Iraq for all of them. No family and no real friends because I'm new to my unit. Why would you ask a stupid question like this unless you just want to see how miserable everyone else is.

True. Memorial Day was always a special day for me because our family did things together to honor our service men and women. My Dad was a Captain in the Army Air Force in WWII. He died on the 28th of May and we had his funeral on Memorial Day. I was sadder than I ever thought I could be when I lost my wonderful Dad to cancer. I will live forever with the wonderful memories of my Dad and the life he gave to me and my brothers but that particular Memorial Day was a very tough one. Though we all lose people who we love at some point in our lives, losing this amazing man who happened to be the best Dad on earth, was so difficult. He died exactly eight weeks after being diagnosed with internal melanoma (very rare). He was hang gliding in Mexico the week before he was diagnosed and in those eight weeks, he lost 100 lbs. I would have never believed that was possible. I cherish every single memory I have of him and was blessed to have him in my life.

Xmas 86, we were in Canada with his family. I called my Mom to see how things were going and she said my grandmom was halucinating and had to b dragged away by the medics b4 she beat Mom with her cane. TRUE story
needless to say , it ruined my canadian holiday.
