Do acting excercises like portraying a character. Or go to google and type in female (Im assuming from your avatar that this is what you are) monologues and just try them out in front of the mirror. It helps! And good luck making the school play!

Pual nice quote from "The Best Christmas Pagent Ever"
To answer the question: You could also find books at the Library full of scenes you can practice with a partner on. Practice reading aloud from books or scens just to get a feel fro reading aloud, find things you haven't read before to make it a cold reading like in the audition. Like Paul said take the few moments they give you to look over the scene before you audition if you can take note of the staging (usually in itailics) it will give you a clue as to what else is going on in the scene, or how to say certain lines. If you look confident while reading it will show so keep a positive attitude. Good Luck!

It would help to know what sort of play it was, be it a comedy, tragedy, musical, melodrama, symbolist, realism, American, Brechtian... etc. Without even that information you have to go in blind like everyone else.

When you go in for your audition they will tell you a little about the play and the characters and usually you will have a chance to read the script once or twice before you perform it.
What I do in this time is read it once quickly through to understand what is going on without actually reading it aloud in my head. Then I try to put into my own words, aloud, what was happening without looking at the script. This is how I find my "voice" for the audition. Then I read it to myself in that voice, and then I am ready to go for my cold reading.

Break a leg!

Oh and reading other scripts won't help much although reading in general will. Read a lot and read often and read for variety. This will help you in all aspects of life including acting.

Oh, one more thing. I know it isn't fair, but all too often I have seen that shool politics play into casting for school plays more than the actual talent. Just remember there are no small roles, only small actors.
