They say, 'It is better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all.' How do they know this? Have they conducted scientific tests and replicated results independently, or is this just rhetoric designed to encourage us all to be heroic? What's so wrong with giving up and backing down? Aren't we all just better off learning to accept whatever we don't like and to conform with whatever we wish we could change? I'm only teasing. In your heart you know that you must fight your corner now. You are right.

Okay, everythings dismal, is it your surroundings or do you feel dismal? If it's your surroundings get off the backside and do something about it. Move the furniture, give it a good cleaning, this is for you guys out there too. If it's you, sit down with a piece of paper and a pen. Make a list of all the things wrong in your life now. When your done go one statement at a time and figure out what you can do to make it better. ie.
#1 I hate my job, revamp your resume and start putting it out.
or I like where I work but I just don't make enough. Find out what you would need to do to get a promotion, and do it.
or I hate my teacher she loads on the homework, try doing it as soon as your home and get it out of the way.
or I don't understand this assignment, ask a different teacher if they could explain it. Tell them you just don't seem to understand Mr/Mrs directions.
or Why can't I find a girl/boy friend. Think about the way you present yourself. Are you arrogant, do seem a little stuck up?
Do you act like the deer in the headlights, scared and so you just stay to yourself?
Are you meticulously clean even your breath and including your clothes and shoes.
If all thats okay, are you going to the right place to meet the type of person you would like.
These are just examples of making the statement then figuring out what you could do. Yours may be totally different but you get the idea.
There is no one in this world that can make you feel better than you, and no one else in this world that can make you feel worse. Think about it, things you can change, do something to change it, the things you can not do anything about right now don't brood and worry about them. It will make you feel bad and can give you ulcers. Hope this helps.

Yup. I know what you mean. Real pain in the backside isn't it?
It does pass - but some of the things that have helped me include hot chocolate (OK - so I'm a diabetic chocaholic - sue me), French Onion soup (odd - sorry), howling at the moon (and no - the neighbours have not been terribly impressed).
Basically - I try something - I don't just sit & stew (although the happy tablets were really the only things that actually got me to help myself!)

But as we're here - did you hear the one about the Irish man, the Scots man and the English man???

Oh - you did? Sorry!

If its any consolation, the point you describe is the point where things start turning around, when things are at their blackest point. The good point is that things cant get any worse and the only way you have to go is up so hang in here a little while longer and things should start improving a little each day. Good luck

Oh, oh, sounds like depression trying to move in. Go to the Jokes Page and get some laughs, that'll help shift it....and when you've finished there, go to the other sites on Australia/America/Canada etc. Just click on the flag at the bottom of Yahoo page.

I hope you feel better after your visits.

It depends a lot on you. If ur a negative person, ur aways gonna look for the down side of things. Try looking at a positive. If I have a negative thought, I give myself a mental shake and think of something good. Try doin sumat that makes you feel better, look at a favourite picture, play wiv a pet, pamper urself. Try it, what have you got to lose?

Look on the up side, there is always a up side.Life is to short to feel that way. Get up, go out and do something you love. CHEER UP, and remember everyone had those moments.

You're right. No one in here can cheer you up. It's all up to you. It's a decision you make. Ask yourself if you want to linger in that state of mind. I guess you know what makes you happy. Don't forget though...PRAYER also helps! Good luck!
