(8x^2/2x^2)=
(8/2)(x^2/x^2)=
4

When you have these equations cross out constants(numbers) with other cnstants and x terms with other x terms.

For example
(16x^2)/(4x)=
(16/4)(x^2/x)=
(4)(x)=4x

(8/2) * (x^2/x^2) = (8/2) * 1 = 4
(excluding x = 0)

If you are supposed to find out x, then the equation must equal something.
