How long does a ferret normally live?
Also I heard they have a really bad odor to them, is this true?

Ferrets can live upwards of 13 years old. Complications and disease can cut this life expectancey in half. Its all about the preventative care (veterinary care) and care given at home.
ferrets do have an odor. Its no more bothersome then the odor off of a dog or cat. You can bathe them but anything more then once every 3 months is over-kill for their delicate skin.
If a ferret smells really bad...10 times out of 10 its not even the ferret...its their environment. (litter pans, bedding, hammock, cage, etc.) These items must be cleaned often to reduce odor.

I have 2 Ferrets at this time and I had a Ferret in the past and I got him at 9 weeks and lived til' he was 11 years old. My vet has Ferrets and he said that a few of his have lived up to 10-12 yrs. Yes they do have an odor but there are ways of making it a little better but it's so hard to get rid of it completely.

Ferrets life spans can vary greatly. Most people say between 6 and 10 years. The oldest that I know of was 12, though there have been some who were guestimated at being older than that, it just isn't certain as they were from a shelter and had no paper work regarding their birth. Most people consider ferrets to be seniors when they reach 5 or 6.

In the USA 5-7 years is average. If you're in the UK, Europe or Australia those ferrets came from hunting stock, not the fur industry, so they have longer lives of 10-15 years of age.
Yes they do smell. They're called mustilids for a reason--related to mink, skunks and otters. There is a scent glad that keeps them smelling musty. Their poop smells too.

I have a ferret and he is unscented and neutered. They are from the skunk family so they can smell badly if not unscented

YES!!! They have an odor very strong like urain ordor! But im not sure about how long they live.
