If the federal government remains unwilling to undertake serious enforcement of the United States' immigration laws, it will eventually be forced to provide massive federal education funds to the states. A far more logical and cost-effective alternative—and one with considerable pay-offs in other areas as well—would be to substantially reduce illegal immigration.

Without a serious commitment to do just that, the open borders and lax enforcement that allow millions of illegal aliens to enter the U.S. each year—and to obtain driver's licenses and other official identification documents with virtually no fear of the law—will continue to undermine the will of the American people, suck dry our communities' financial resources, and imperil our children's future

He feels they can then vote and they will vote for him or his party. Catholics are for it because they feel they will get more parishoners and get more money. By the way I'm a Democrat who is Catholic.

This is simple Illegal means breaking the Law. immigrants like Italians that came to this country through ellis island had to be sponsered by someone in America, they were examined for diseases, isolated if sick until healthy, backgrounds checked if a criminal sent back. They learned our language and only spoke their native language at home, the became U.S. Citizens by our laws. Compare that to people that run across our borders, refuse to speak english, demand rights want to get ahead of the people that are trying to become U.S. citizens the legal way then call people racist or Xenophobs if they don't get their way.

my belief is that by doing so, the government will have the more background information on the illegal immigrants (address...) and could eventually lead to a larger crackdown on them. but also to make the roads safer by ensuring that even illegal immigrants know the rules of the road rather then just driving without a license.

He's a POS Democrat. What do you expect - enforcement of immigration laws or giving these aliens the ability to drive? For a belly crawling Democrat it's the latter.

in my opinion, it's a path to voting. Imagine, if he can pull it off ( I sure hope not), he'll be voted into office forever by the same illegal Imigrants he's helping now, the same goes to the current democratic party. It's all about power.
