As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend and sister.
Insha'Allah, on very rare occasions my father tried to cook a thing he called and "Egyptian Float". It consisted of an egg fried while in a piece of toast. He cooked it in butter (it was soaked in butter) and then he would top it with a large spoonful of mayonnaise and black pepper.
Considering it was only one piece of toast and one egg, one might think that it would create only a small mess but to think that would be to totally underestimate my father.
Grease would have splattered everywhere (including the ceiling). Egg shell, or small pieces of it seemed to have accompanied the grease. The eggs would have dripped egg white all over the floor. Several frying pans, plates, spoons, forks, butter knives, spatulas, pan lids, etc. were all over the kitchen (the counter, the sink, the table, etc.)
These artery clogging death foods didn't taste too bad and eventually the kitchen would return to near normal, as would my mother.
Ah, memories (reasonably fond...smile) of youth.
Ma'a salaam.

Yup. He was a single parent, and i am an only child, so he had to cook for me. He is not a very good cook, but he could follow a recipe, and it was kind of cool that i had my dad making breakfast for me, and tried to make a few different things for dinner. We always made a big deal out of holiday meals, even though it was just the two of us.

My father never really cooked for the family. Perhaps he would throw something on a grill to cook but that was it.

My dad is very busy...
I only saw him once a month... he was always on a business trip...
Once, however, when my mom was away... he made us this awesome baked white (hamoor) fish... YUM!
BUT he didn't stay with us to eat it... he had to go back to his office... even though it was a Friday :(...
And since I moved here... he visits once a year... n stays for 2 days... the last time he was here (this summer)... he made this great lentil soup... YUM!
He's a great cook... he just doesn't have the time :)
I wish when I go back home... he retires so I could spend all my days with him :D

Just breakfast when I was a kid. Mom wasn't much of an early riser. He'd make fried eggs, bacon, grits, toast, the works. Fresh squeezed orange juice. Sometimes he'd go to the best bakery in town and get us the BEST doughnuts too.

Sure! He makes super good burritos. He slow roasts the beef and shreds it. Then backs the tortillas and cooks them in the oven. He makes a killer pasta salad and good chuck wagon beans too!!
