BCBS is such a big corp. that most doctors accept it. I wouldn't waste my time by calling bcbs. Find a doctor you want. whether it's because you've heard good things, or they are close to your house, whatver the reason, call them to schedule the appointment and ask them when scheduling do you take bcbs.. if they do they are a PPO provider. Problem solved.
One more thing... unless vision is part of your benefit package.. it's seperate than regular health insurance.. An eye exam won't be covered anyway. So make sure you have vision Coverage. The BCBS website is real easy to sign up for and you check all the info about your plan, and even look for doctors in the network.!

I would DEFINITELY recommend that you call the customer service number on your card to get your answer. Do not ignore this, or else you may be paying a higher deductible (or even the entire bill) by going to a non-participating provider. Especially if you have a PPO policy! A PPO policy allows you to go to providers outside of the network, but then you pay a higher deductible and co-pay.

You should have received a list of participating doctors and hospitals but if you didn't, you can call ahead to the Dr. that you want to visit and inquire if they are a part of the PPO plan. You can also call BC/BS and ask them about the participating Dr's. in your area.
