That is how all businesses work these days... when it happens to you, the best thing you can do is get another job IMMEIATELY because all you will do is train your replacement... the company doesn't care about you so why would you care about the company... either way, you are on your way out the door.

You need to ask that question of your old employer first. Whatever happens, it's not personal, it's just business and if you were the new buyer, what would you do? You can't rely on gossip or on what happened some place else. You can ask if they intend to run the motel with their family and if your employment and wages are secure. Of course, that can all change too. I had a friend that was hired to do some bookkeeping so she quit her long time job to move on to this higher paying one. They brought in someone off the street and very low pay to "help" her. As soon as #2 learned how to do the job, they fired my friend. Sounds like they aren't the type of people to work for but my "friend" is very abrasive and rude to others. I'll never know if she just wasn't liked for her lack of manners, etc. or if those that hired her acted very badly. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you need to show your worth to the new employers so that they will keep you. That's if you want to stay. If you feel that you are training their new employees and will get the boot, then get another job. I'd take a good look at what was going on around me with the new employers. I would do my job and do my best to be liked by the new owners. I'm a confronter so as soon as I thought it a good idea, I would ask to sit down with whoever is running the show and ask them about my job security and explain my worth-long time trusted employee. Look them in the eyes, that's the only way to know for sure. And. . .always have a backup plan. . .very discreetly I would be looking around. Always easier to get a job when you have a job.

Thing is: if you stay, they'll know you have nowhere to go and they can offer you any deal - take it or leave it (like the Yankees did to Joe Torres).

I think if you've stayed there this long you probably have gearned some experience that could even earned you more pay elsewhere.

I'll look for another job if i were you. The change could be good (they may promote you for your experience) or it could be worse (they cut you like the Dolphins cut Daunte Culpepper) by which time, you'd have become desperate. So why wait to find out? Act now that you probably have the benefit of time.
