my sweetpeas were lovely this summer thanks to some wonderful person on here giving me fantastic advice....
now that it's the end of the season and they've stopped producing flowers they're not looking too healthy.
what do i do with them now?
do i cut them back, or dig them up?
will they return next year? or do i have to plant from seed again?
any advice from those of you who know more from your experience, greatly appreciated.
thanks!

You can just cut them. TRhey are annuals and need to be re planted. Did you let them set pods? If so you can plant the peas. You will probably get a different mix of colors, but I did that for years in Ca. Always saved some for next year.

If you just leave them, the seed pods will spread the seed for you. If you don't want the look of the dying plants, pick off the dried pods, take the seeds out and sow them early next spring.

They are annuals, you may sometimes get a few volunteers from seeds that have been dropped by your vines; but mostly no. You have to plant each year. Tear out your vines, and replant with fresh seed now.
