dont worry if its broken and not out of place then all they would do is strap it up to the other finger anyway (buddy strapping) so just strap it up and let it heal itself and if it doesnt get better in 2 or3 weeks or it gets worse go to a doc.

No real way to know for sure without an x-ray. Is there any deviation of the finger from it's normal position? The symptom of reddnes and heat is probably from blleding under the skin. grocery store usually sell simple finger splints in the pharmacy. Ice it for now, for about 20 minutes and if it continues to swell or become more painful see a doctor.

Maybe. 8 lbs isnt too much, but that doesnt mean you couldn't have broken it. I sprained my finger a few days ago and I thought I broke it. When I did break one of my fingers, it was hot too. Goto the doctors and they will take a look at it. Go just to be sure. It will just get worst if you dont get it treated. With my sprained finger I have to put a gaw/woven pad between them and wrap it with medical paper tape.

Put an ice pack on it to keep the swelling down. You'll probably need an x-ray to determine if it's broken. If you can't afford a doctor then wrap something around it to keep it straight as it starts to mend. Good Luck.

8lbs wouldn't break your finger. It should feel better after a few days.

8lb isn't enough to break a bone. It's probably just bruised. Keep ice on it, that's all.

If you can bend it then it's not broken. If not, have a doctor look into it.

Can you bend it? If you can it's definitely not broken, it might just be swelling.
