I believe Jason T is right. There was some "Techno babble" before the offical quotation "Tranquilty base her the Eagle has landed". I like better the Charles Duke line "You got a whole load of folk about to turn blue" That probably sums up the whole thing a lot better. I was 11 andthat's how I remember feeling watching on TV. PS D@DZ acording to Buzz Aldrin's biog that's the first ting he did!

Houston the Eagle has landed inside the LEM , But on the surface just as soon as he made the descent from the LEM ladder "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind" official the radio failed to transmit completely so we heard "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"

Actually, it was Buzz Aldrin who said the first words as they landed on the moon. Neil Armstrong said the first words ON the moon, as he was the first off the landing module.

when they LANDED, "Houston, the eagle has landed". Or that's the official version. couldn't it have been: "boy am I glad to feel gravity again, even if it's a lot lighter than the Earth's! Solid ground under us, thank you!" That would have been what I'd have said anyway!! LOL!

"Are we there yet?"
"Hey Gordo, we aren't in Kansas any more."
"What do you mean I was supposed to take the beer in off the boarding trestle"
"this would be a great place for a Starbucks!!!"
"Hey Gordo, call Pizza Hut, 30 minutes or less, no freaking way."
