I wouldn't have the time and energy to do a full blown circle ritual every day. I do honor the God/dess and meditate every day. I keep a shrine where I say prayers every day, often leave little offerings, etc. There are no must-haves, except yourself. The tools are nice... they have thier uses... but they are gravy. Wicca is a religion-- a spiritual practice. Use what you have or can get-- don't sweat what you don't have. A word of advice, though-- stick to using what is meaningful to you. Don't just collect tools and items to fill your altar. It's a waste of money, and you just end up with clutter. The tools are not your faith. Meditations should be practiced every day, or as often as possible... however you don't need to do a circle or full blown ritual to have a meditation. Since I began walking the Wiccan path 17 years ago, a lot about me has changed. I've learned to take responsibility for myself and my actions, I've become more mature, I've learned to accept some things about myself and found the strength to change what I did not like. I've found peace and contentment with my life and the world. It's been a long road and it's still going, so there is really too much to name.

Many people become interested in Wicca because they think it is all about doing spells. It is much, much more than that. The framework of Wicca gives its followers an outline of how to live their entire lives. It includes worship or honoring of gods and goddesses in regularly scheduled ceremonies. It provides suggestions on how to cook and serve meals, how to raise and educate children, how to celebrate births, marriages, deaths and other rites of passage. It offers ideas to explore on what happens after death and between lifetimes. It helps a follower to understand how to handles the difficult moments in life as well as how to better enjoy the good moments. Wicca is much, much more than “magic”. In fact many experienced Wiccans will tell you that magic is only a very small part of the religion.

There are many books that expalin wicca available at almost any bookstore. Or you can order via amazon.com but the best way of all is to support your local community and look for an occult supply store in your area, and shop for books there. Borders is not going to go out of business if you buy your intro to wicca books at You local occult shop, or metaphysical bookstore. You also have the opportunity to network at the local metaphysical bookshop, check if they have a calander of events, attend a few classes or reading groups, or rituals. To find your local pagan bookshop search www.witchvox.com
In the left hand margin you will find a search menu to locate your town, seek out other witches, groups & shops by state! You can also join your local pagan yahoo groups, and your local witches meetup. They have boards for ritual, meet & greets, book clubs, classes, covens etc.
You may be able to get the gist if wicca through books, but it is an experiential practice, so you will never really know if it is right for you just by reading, you need to meet others of like mind, to fully understand what it is, and what it means to be wiccan.
Best of luck to you !

To Ride A Silver Broomstick by Silver Ravenwolf. Its a great book for beginners or for those who havnt decided if they want to practice Witchcraft or not. I have a 360 page on Yahoo, I write about Wicca, check it out. Also, I am offering to do spells for those who need it, and I'll answer any questions. It's "360.yahoo.com/vampiregoddessrain. Also, you can find it by googling "Maiden Rain".
Hope this helps, BLessed Be!

Do what I did, read everything you can get your hands on and come to your own conclusions. Let me say that this is the best answered Wicca question I've seen, not a single person being disrespectful. My smile just became a bit larger.
Blessed be

Read everything you can get your hands on. Every book has some value to it and you'll learn how to tell the difference between the "good" authors and the "bad" ones. Discernment is a skill that is necessary to develop. Check witchvox.com for metaphysical shops in your area as many of them with have books and supplies you may want and also host classes on various topics of interest. Beware of people that use phrases like "a real Witch never..." or "a true Wiccan always..." There are exceptions to the rules and we all have to follow our own conscience, morals, and values.

My recommendation:
First, go to http://www.magickaschool.com
There is a free first-year course there which is very good. Do the exercises, don't just read.
You can't really learn Wicca from a book. It takes practice. Join the forum at magickaschool and become active.
Take a look at www.witchvox.com You might find others in your area.
Learn what books are fluff if you wish to learn what Wicca is really about. Stay away from things like "teen witch" and "to ride a silver broomstick".
Don't worry right away about tools and such. They help as you grow, but the aren't necessary.
If you want to chat, email me.
