I am working towards getting my teaching license and am starting to work in classrooms with other teachers and soon will be teaching some lessons. I am usually a confident public speaker, but I am really nervous about teaching my first lesson, any tips?

It is natural to be nervous when you first start teaching, but remember we all were 'new' teachers at some point in are careers. However, what sets apart the good ones from the not-so-good ones is the preparation and the meaningfulness of the their lessons.

A good tip is to limit the amount that you are actually talking or lecturing. Instead break up the period with a small/focused lecture or direction, and then have the students work on an activity that reinforces the concept.

Also a bellringer (or activity right at the start of class) helps gets students focused and ready to learn and will give you some time to collect your thoughts and do administrative details (attendance, etc.).

Good luck, you'll be fine.

Relax, you will do fine. Everyone is nervous their first few times, especially when you feel another teacher or adult is watching. I am sure the other teachers will be very understanding. Just make sure you know the lesson, the steps, answers to possible questions and the point of the lesson.

Remember that the teachers you will be working with have gone through exactly what you are going through right now so they're not going to be harsh on you. Also remember, kids love people who are not perfect and aren't afraid to be a dork. I teach my kids little songs and dances. It makes them laugh and then they remember things better. Starting to teach is a very nerve-racking thing but you'll be fine. Most teachers give interns plenty of slack because they've been there. Good luck!
