The motor head is spitting out rubbish and pushing out dust. The base canister unit seem to be working properly. I checked and the vacuum dust bag is fine and does not need to be changed yet. I believe the fault is in the extension with the motor head. I've browsed some websites and do not see it offered as an accessory. Do you think it could be replaced? Thanks.

Thanks for your answers. You insights are really helpful.

To add, the brush is not rotating in the head but the suction seems OK. Could it be the motor that is rotating the brush is not working? In that case, does it mean I should rotate the powerhead?

Thanks.

Certainly it can be replaced, but I bet it doesn't need to be. Try taking the wands out of the power head elbow and check to see if there's an obstruction of some sort in there. If the brush roll turns and there's a decent amount of bristle left on the roller, then the belt is most likely OK, and so is the motor. The most likely cause of the dirt not going up the tubes is a plug. Replacement of the complete power head assembly would probably cost over $100, which is a lot to spend when you could just have a plugged wand, or hose. Check both.

Put a large piece of paper under the nozzle with the vacuum on. If you can turn the power head off, do so. If the paper doesn't get sucked solidly to the nozzle, there is something stuck in the head or the hose that prevents the suction from the canister from sucking up the dirt. If the power head is revolving, there would be no reason to replace it.
