Despite our wet season, the tree is mainly bare except for near the top. I do not see any pecans on the ground, or on it's branches.

Does this mean no pecans this year? :(

Some varieties of pecans are bad about alternate bearing. That is a heavy crop one year, very light crop the next year. There is not much you can do about it, except keep the tree as healthy and well fertilized as possible.

There are many questions and answers about pecan trees on this site:

This was actually a very good year for most nut trees. I believe your problem is with pollination, which would suggest that you plant more pecan trees to insure good pollination. Also I recall reading that in some areas there have been a shortage of bees who are the trees greatest pollinators.

Good luck!

yes, it might be wet but have you give the tree any trace elements and other fertiliser?

try clearing around the root base so there is no grass to compete for nutrients, add some compost, sheep, cow or horse manure that has been composted and water in. this will at least ensure a crop for next year

Fraid so. Sounds like you didn't get them pollinated or the blossoms froze.

yep, may have been the lack of honey bees ,[pollination] this yr, or the drought may have made it go dormant to soon,
