I'm not a Boston fan but the entire season is on the line and as a baseball fan I would rather see a playoff seasoned pitcher on the mound.............One thing people don't seem to realize about the pitchers coming over from Japan..........In Japan their seasons are shorter and they pitch every 6th game instead of every 5 like here...........Both Dice K and Wang need time to adjust to that longer season and the shorter rotation time..........CAT

Dice-k is known for pitching in the clutch in Japan. Yes he is a rookie this season, but he did have 15 wins and 201 strikeouts. Also, Terry Francona will no be hestitant to take him out with a strong bullpen, not to mention Beckett can pitch.

Well considering that Westbrook is 6 and 9 and Matsuzaka is 15 and 12 I think that we should be confident. And he is not technically a rookie - if you didn't know he used to pitch in Japan.
This has nothing to do with the question but don't you feel ashamed naming yourself #1 Redsox fan? I don't care if you lost a bet - isn' your self respect worth anything? Your obviously not a very big Yankee fan if your willing to take on a bet where you have to change your name.

He isn't a "rookie". A rookie is a player playing his first year of proffessional baseball. Didn't any of you watch the World Baseball Classic? That Daisuke Matsuzaka can pitch in big games!
Why are you putting the season on the shoulders of a guy who lost to 45 year old Roger Clemens and "Rookie" Phil Hughes!

Technically Dice K is no rookie, look for a good 5 from him then everyone's available, including Beckett. WS doesn't start till Wednesday. For 100 million, this is his chance to show he's worth it.

He's no rookie. In general, the Japanese league is better than our Triple A leagues and he's pitched in plenty of tough situations. He's also fired up because of his failure in game 3.

Don't ask me, but I think Dice-k will probably last 3-4 innings but not cause he lets up a lot of runs but cause the sox will wanna get to there bullpen earl.

Because your manager is the idiotic Terry Francona. Francona is one of the worst managers ever. Putting in Dice K who is a tired and scared rookie is just another example of why Francona is the worst manager ever. If it was not for Franconas horrid managing the Sox would not even be in this situation. Sox should have started Wakefield or Lester ( would complete his miracle season with his cancer comeback) or even been really creative and started the game with Okajima and just let it all happen. Oh well perhaps DIce K will redeem himself like JD Drew did last night!
GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has been in tough situations in Japan and in the Series against the rest of the world. Sorry, I forgot the name of the series. He was the winnining pitcher. He has sucked lately, but should not be dismissed. He has the goods.
