I have a very intelligent son that wont show this side right now. He's decided to care less about his last year of high school, he doesn't seem to have a drive for going to college, he forgets to lock the house up any more. I'm at the end of my rope. He's not on drugs. He doesn't even smoke or drink. He's just so care free any more that it frustrates me. How do you motivate your child to snap to it so that they stand a chance to suceed in life. He can build his own computers and build anything that comes to mind yet he wont take that energy and apply it to school or anything that requires responsibility. Someone please help this frustrated mom.

Ask him why he won't study if and only if he is the type of person who will listen and is not afraid to share feelings. If he can't talk to you. Just slowly go into the subject at dinnertime or something and encourage him to follow his education to have a job. Tell him that some people are waiting for the opportunity that he has to get a better life. Tell him that he needs the education to support his family when he grows up as well as himself. I have a feeling that he doesn't want to concentrate because he's regretting that he didn't do the things that kids can do when they're young. He might be scared that going to college means responsibilities and he's not up to it or prepared. Just tell him that it's an adventure that you will support him throughout the whole way if he wants you to. Good Luck.

1) KNow the reason why he is not studing
2) Encourage him in all ways u can
3) If he having trouble understanding smethng thus he is not studing get him a tutor.
