Oak doesn't give much in a wind, that's the reason there are so many colloquialisms about 'strong as an oak'. I would cut out the broken limb, paint the wound with some paint and it should survive the damage.

At least it was felled in an open area.

Cut the limb off at the collar of the limb and dont put anything on it. It will come through OK and in two years, you will never know.
