Do you mean a WATER HEATER ?

because if you already have hot water why heat it !

if the water intake is cold it is a WATER HEATER,one that heats up cold water into hot.

The best spanner is a large ring spanner but if you have the box spanner type the method is the same, fit the spanner on to the nut firmly then hit the spanner or bar of the box spanner with a club hammer a few sharp taps normally free it, be aware if the tank is old the shock may cause damage to the tank but thats the way I always get them out 2 out of 10 may be too weak to stand it but this normally means the tank is in need of replacement anyway. Plumbers will heat them with a blowtouch first but if its foam lagged this can be difficult.

of course you have the power off,
put the wrench on the nut part, turn it to the left, or counter clock wise, use a large screw driver or rod, thru the small hole in the wrench,
