Washing wool blanket?

I received a 100% lambs wool blanket as a wedding gift from a friend in Scotland and over 3 years it's gotten some spots and needs a wash. What products are recommended for wool? I know for diapers they make lanolin based shampoos and conditioners since wool is hair, or is there a similar "people" shampoo that's easier to get. I do know the No Heat, Air Dry rules for washing. I'm just trying to get an idea as to what is the very best way to care for it as I can't fly overseas to replace it and it means a lot to me. Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions.

wash it by hand in the bath tub using woolite then just hang dry. dont wring it out too hard you can actually blow a fan on it

Some wool is not washable and will shrink and get ruined if you wash it. Assuming it is washable, you should use special washing detergent for wool (look in any shop), wash at 30 degrees on a cycle that has NO soaking. Use a slow spin (otherwise it will come out too creased) and do not tumble dry it, hang it up as flat as you can (over the bannisters is the only feasible place in most people's houses.)

Take it to a professional dry cleaner and have it dry cleaned. They may suggest just spot cleaning the stains or dry cleaning the entire blanket. Here's the thing ... make sure you go to the most reputable cleaner in your area. If the garment means that much to you you want ot make sure it's done with care and done right.

Wash in cold water with WOOLITE. Spin dry, lay it out on towels on the floor and shape back to the original size while still damp. It will dry back to the original size . If you hang it on the line, the weight of it will stretch it.

I have washed "cheap"wool blankets in cool water, mild detergent and delicate setting with good luck . dried in dryer on low or no heat and short time. heat seems to shrink the wool and make it do weird things plus smell.
