Carter lost the election because he invested all of his energies into trying to free the hostages instead of spending his time running for re-election.
H. Ross Perot didn't get Clinton elected; but he DID scare the beJesus out of all the 'career politicians' when he garnered 19% of the popular vote!!
Gee, Penelope, I still find your avatar intriguing. I can't figure out what you're doing. -RKO- 10/21/07

i would give articles about how your idols reagan and bush sr were traitorously negotiating with iranian terrorists behind our govts back, trading arms for the hostages, but knowing you i would receive ridicule and the sources would never be credible. this, more than being a bad president, was the downfall of carter and opened up our government to the pnac-ers you idolize as well. if we had listened to jimmy we perhaps would be energy independent by now and would have an open, honest government instead of the crap we have now.

James Buchanan. When he left half the country had succeeded from the nation. He did nothing about it. He was too busy setting on his hands. The ladies never took to kind to him also. The guy never even got married in his life. What is up with that?

President George H. W. Bush did not win reelection but it was not because he was a bad president, it was because the American people were looking for change and got more than they bargained for.
