i was climbing hay bales last year and my ankle snapped back. Assumed it was a sprain, wrapped it and got over it in about a week. In september of this year i walked 2 miles for charity. It hurt really bad after that. now it is only getting worse. I've wrapped it, iced it, wore a brace, NOTHING HELPS! Is it time to go to the doctor? Should i just keep doing what i'm doing?

A sprained ankle is one of those most difficult injuries to recover from. Primarily because of the location of the injury and the daily stress put on the ankle while it is attempting to heal. I definitely recommend being evaluated by a orthopedic MD. He or she will more then likely take x-rays, you may have suffered a hairline fracture which never healed properly. You may have damaged the tendon which is a common injury when a ankle gets injured. It could be a number of things. But the only way to know is to go the the MD. Good Luck

Keep doing what you are doing and see a doctor on Monday. You need an x-ray to see if you broke it last year. Many people think (especially in the feet) that if it doesn't swell or turn purple everything is okay. You may have broken it initially and it healed incorrectly. I can't say anything else without seeing an x-ray. Hope you feel better.

There's what, 27 bones in the ankle? Any one of them can be fractured or broken. Get an X-ray, and maybe an MRI soon.

Good luck,

YOU MAY HAVE A HAIRLINE FRACTURE YOUR ANKLE NEEDS TO HAVE AN MRI TO FIND THIS BECAUSE STANDARD X-RAYS WON'T SHOW IT.
STOP THE PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES. PAIN TELLS YOU SOMETHING IS WRONG AND MUST GET FIXED.
