I am about to receive my brothers aquarium from him, but I don't know what type of fish I want. I need something that is easy to take care of, and lives in freshwater. I want something that is inexpensive but something that not alot of people have. Please help, find a fish for me

African cichlids would be OK in a really large tank,(over 100 gallons). Otherwise consider something less aggressive. If you want to have something that is a little rare and still not too expensive you might try some of the "wild" livebearers. These are somewhat like the "fancy varieties that you see in the pet stores, except without the fancy fins, and weird colors. A good source of this sort of fish would be the American Live-bearer Association. They have a web site that will get you started.

Bubble eye goldfish are really awesome, and very few people have them, search for a picture of one if you don't know what they look like. They have these cool liquid filled bubbles for cheeks. But I recommend having a live breeder tank, which requires a little bit of salt. Look up mollys, guppies, and platies. These are awesome, and all livebreeders. Do your research, and think about having an aquarium with brackish water.

african cichlids are perfect!
but they tend to get a little aggresive with other speicies so if you do get them, you cant have any other type of fish in the tank. i have 10 of them and there very eazy to take care of and they also have bright colors!

good luck!

Depending on how big your aquariam is, you could get an oscar. They have amazing personalities, and you can pet them after they're fed. They actually come up to the surface.
