Pretty odd and random question granted but sometimes I'm watching TV or a movie and I see America on there and I think - everything is so beautiful in the States.

What are your views on England and would you ever consider living here?

Thanks for all your input. All of your points were very valid and most of you know your stuff.

Yes the weather in England is often very negative. Especially this Summer. Summer?! We had about 2 days of sun and the rest was gloom, doom and rain.

I went to the USA last year as a matter of fact. But only for 2 weeks and I was mostly in Virginia where there wasn't much going on. I went to New York though and saw the Times Square. Absolutely beautiful.

I dislike the calm, peaceful village life which is often portrayed in England which is why I'd much rather be mixing it up in the hustle and bustle of busy New York. One day.

Love the culture and the people. Probably the most authentic white culture on the planet! I have traveled on business to London a few times and, aside from having to remember to look in the opposite direction when crossing the street -- you guys are horrendous drivers -- I could see making it home. I love the old world charm, the grandeur of royalty and the tremendous mix of cultures. What you see on American television IS NOT what is really happening in America. Come for a visit and then make a decision! Great question.

I think that England is a very interesting country with some great history and many contributions to Western culture...many fine writers have come from England, just to name one category.

My impression of England is that it is a bit more formal than here in the U.S., but I don't have a negative view of this; it just is what it is!

I personally would love to visit England, especially the cities...I have heard that it is much safer in England than in U.S. cities.

I often wonder what the English think of Americans...do they see all of us as a bunch of overweight consumerists.

I don't have any particular assumptions about England or the English---I have had the good fortune to befriend quite a few individuals from the U.K. and have found that it's pretty difficult to pigeonhole what is "English" about someone or generalize about the country as a whole.

I would love to visit England someday. And I think that the peaceful villages would be a wonderful place to live.

I live near a small town in the southern US, and it is lovely here. Of course, no place is perfect, but I like our area. There are 2 lakes and 2 rivers, with plenty of watersports, fishing, hiking, picnics and camping.

I have been to New York. It is somewhere to visit, but I'd never want to live there.

I visited London for a week a few years ago and I was glad I went, but I wouldn't care to go again. Of course I shouldn't compare everyone in England to the people I met in London but I found them rather rude. But again, perhaps it was just a bad week.

I like England and other parts of GB.

I don't care for the congestion in London and all the rude tourists in the most popular places. But the countryside is lovely, and the smaller towns.

German, Asian and American tourists are the worst, in that order. I'm a "yank" but people keep asking me if I'm not really Canadian when I'm in GB. Because my mother taught me manners I guess.

I would consider living there but for the cost. Something that is ten dollars in the States is ten pounds in GB and at the exchange rate that's too too pricey.

I like northern France too except it's full of foreigners.

I like England and all it has to offer. Funny, when I watch British TV, I like the feel of a cottage or living in a village. The country side with trees and green grass. I like the music, the history, and the old fashion English tea time. The only thing that would stop me from wanting to live there would be the weather. I don't do rain and fog. But I did try your bangers and they were soooo good!

Cheers

England looks okay. I'd rather visit Germany or Spain, though.

The people there look nice, but kind of cold at the same time. Also, you guys don't seem to like us too much. Is it cold in the UK? That's another thing, it always looks gloomy over there. (No offence.)

One good thing about you all is that you're much more educated about world issues. =D

I wouldn't live anywhere but the states. Although, if I had to move, Britain would be my first choice.

I've travelled to the UK a number of times and studied abroad in London. I would have loved to have stayed there and, if I could figure out a way to emigrate, I definitely would. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a legal way to come there.
