i remember a scene in one of the books where harry sees a "little girl" in the hallway and says something to her and she drops her scales and runs away. (it was actually crabbe (or was it goyle?) using polyjuice potion)
what page of what book was this on?

There's a problem in answering such a question because you could get different page numbers and they could all be correct. Something might not appear on the same page in the paperback as it does in the hardcover. And publications in different countiries may not have the same number of pages (for example the seventh book hardcover is 607 pages long in the UK publishing but 759 in the US publishing), putting certain scenes on different pages between different hardcover publications.

The only thing that can really be said is the book you want is Half-Blood Prince, probably somewhere around chapter 21.
