I LENT A HOUSE PAYMENT TO MY STEP DAUGHTER OF A THOUSAND DOLLARS, THEY DENY THAT IT WAS A LOAN, THEY ARE CLAIMING IT WAS A GIFT. THEY ARE NOW IN THE PROCESS OF CLOSING ON THEIR HOUSE, HOW DO I GO ABOUT PUTTING A LEIN SO I GET PAID BACK , BEFORE THEY CLOSE ON THEIR HOUSE?

Unless you have the paperwork to prove that this money WAS a loan, you probably won't be able to file such a lien. You could, of course file a lis pendens (pending lien) against the property which would delay closing until cleared up, but you might also find yourself in legal trouble for filing a false lien if you fail to prove that your lien is valid.

Once more we see that such situations must always be backed up by paper. Absent same, it's your word against theirs.
