My girlfriend and I both want to have kids but we're not sure how many in total. We however have both agreed we want to have twins. Any suggestions on how to have twins or more?

I've read up on this 100 times, since I too would love to have twins! Here are your best bets for going the natural way:

Eat yams.
There are certain cultures that have more twins than others. One of these is a tribe where they eat a lot of yams. There is a theory that it is a certain chemical in the yams that helps the women in this culture have more twins.

Be breastfeeding when you get pregnant.
Recent studies show that if you are breastfeeding when you get pregnant that you are more likely to have twins. This is said to be caused by the depletion of calcium in your system while nursing and its effect on the egg during conception and ovulation.

Be older when you get pregnant.
The older you are when you get pregnant, the more likely you are to have twins. This may be because of an increased ovulation of multiple eggs, resulting in more dizygotic or fraternal twins.

Be a twin.
Twins have a higher rate of having twins themselves. Unfortunately you can't really influence this one.

Have a family history of twins.
If you have a family history, mostly a maternal history, then you are at an increased chance of having twins yourself. These are mostly dizygotic or fraternal twins and not monozygotic or identical twins. This comes from the ability to ovulate more than one egg at any given point in ovulation.

Be a certain ethnicity.
African Americans have a higher rate of twinning than other ethnicities.

Wow, you're brave!

I know I certainly wouldn't want twins out of choice. I used to think I did, but after having my daughter, which may have been a multiple as I used clomid, I am so glad it was only one. Pregnancy is hard, especially towards the end, I couldn't even walk to the local shop my back was so bad! But more importantly, there are more risks carrying multiples.

To be honest, if you're TTC naturally, then it really is left to nature. I don't think there is anything you can do to increase your chances of having twins. But you can have fun trying!!!

If twins are in her or your family, you are genetically inclined to have them. I don't know how you could have twins naturally. Fertility drugs might help. Thats not very natural, though.

if their are twins in the girlfriends family, you might have a chance, but other than that there is no special move that can make that happen

chances are if there are twins in her family but if not, you'll have to take fertility meds, or IVF for a better chance.

i have just read recently that taking a higher than average dose of folic acid (or folate) has been linked to women concieving identical twins. Just be careful before taking higher doses of this and do your research well. Have fun and goodl luck

Take fertility drugs. But then that wouldn't be naturally. You get what you get period.
