My laptop of HP pavillion 1000 series is not getting AC power. I check ed the AC power it is working fine. Earlier I had an issue that power button requires more strength to start. i mean pressing hard..
Do you think it is a gud idea that i open the laptop and check the power connections ? unfortunately i do not have any manuals but can you tell me if it would be an easy task to open and close laptop ?

Sounds like your power controller is shot. Unless you are very comfortable taking your laptop to pieces, you might want to take it to a professional.

See if you can find another HP laptop user with the same power supply type, and try it with that. If it works, you can rule out something internal and start shopping for a new power supply. If not, take to shop, or you might wind up with a lovely rectangular paper-weight.

You checked the power supply with a meter or are you just basing your its good comment off of the green light on the power supply? No, if you haven't ever worked on a laptop before then your best bet is to take it to a repair shop.
