Well, I'd probably invite you in for a glass of iced tea first. After all, you walked all this way in the heat just to bring me money.
It's an interesting question: It isn't enough to make a big difference in my quality of life, but it is too much to just ignore. I'd hate to blow it on something useless, but it isn't enough to solve world hunger. I see my choices as the following:
1 do I treat myself,
2 do I do something wise, practical, useful, or frugal,
3 do I share it by buying a gift for another, or
4 do I donate it to some humanitarian cause.
I eliminated giving it to a political cause, at least for the time being. I'm mad at all of them.
1. I don't need a treat. I'm fine today.
2. I would like a rug for beside the bed, and $50 would probably be plenty for that. But I haven't found one I like, and I can't think of anything else practical I need just now.
3. I don't want to spoil my younger son, and I just sent money to my older son. I might put it toward a gift for one of them if I could think of something specific, but just now, I don't have any ideas.
4. I'd like to try that micro-loan project. This amount would be perfect for that.
I'd research the on-line micro-loan fund project, and make a donation in your name to that. If it is paid back, it will multiply the good the original $50 can do.

One of my friends died a few weeks ago and I made a contribution to American Alzheimer's Association. They could use the extra $50 for more research.
Between Cancer and Alzheimer's, I don't know which is worse. This friend, I'd known for 17 years-the past 12 years, he was stricken and the last 5 in a Long term care facility.

buy my two brothers and my sister their b-day presents that i need to buy but can't cuz i have no money..then either go to the mall or buy a video game.
