5 years ago we had a nasty ice storm that took down most of the power lines and trees in the area. We were without electricity for 4 days & it was around 30 degrees outside. We had gas, but without electricity the furnace doesn't work. No sump pump either, we had 2 feet of water in the basement. Now I own a generator...

Many times. I live in a very rural area. We had an ice storm this last winter that had power out for almost 3 weeks for many people in the vicinity of the larger town. The city was without power just as long as the rural areas!

I lived for several years with only minimal power availability, solar energy, an artisian well (no city water or other well water source) and that included bathroom facilities. I was able to live this way because as a child I would visit my grandparents on their farm and they didn't have indoor plumbing or electricity! It was quite an experience for a true city girl! Nana

I,d say that became right into slightly out of order. I,m with british gas now for my gas and electrical energy and the fees have long gone up plenty. I,m attempting to discover yet another company now as british gas are to costly.
