The first is incorrect because a semicolon divides two independent clauses. The words after the semicolon are not an independent clause.

It should be with the comma:
The day I received my first failing grade, I climbed into my mom’s car after school, my face passive and my mind distant.

The semicolon would only be used with a sentance that can be broken up into two complete sentances. I dont believe "my face passive and my mind distant" is a complete sentance. But what do i know i have a C in language arts right now, it seriously depends on if its a complete sentance which i dont think it is. Use the comma.

Punctuation-clever, D is right through fact the full-end is interior the citation marks. A demands citation marks. B is faulty through fact the 1st citation marks have been located in the previous 'stated'. Marge did no longer say 'stated The prepare is basically leaving' . C is faulty through fact the full-end is exterior the citation marks. On a notice of commonplace grammar nevertheless, punctuation aside, 'The' ought to (in my view) no longer be written with a capital letter in any respect in those sentences as that's a ingredient of the full sentence describing Marge saying that the prepare is basically about to flow away.
