Men or Women?

I've always wanted to answer this question. I think men are favored for jobs. The high paying jobs can only be done by men or very strong women. Men are starting to move into the nursing field because the pay is getting higher but most "women's" jobs are low pay. I believe that men SHOULD get high pay. I think (forgive me) women should stay home and enjoy their children and their home duties. I'm old enough to remember when that actually happened and divorces were not even thought of. People worked it out instead of getting a divorce when their spouse walked crooked!
As far as custody goes, in a divorce case, women have priority. Society and courts always favor mothers. That's emotionally painful for dads and I guess there's no solution for that. Can't we all just get along? (smile)

That all depends on where you reside. It changes from day to day here in America. It's mostly tied into profit margins & marketing schemes with EVERYONE in mind as potential "contributors" to a companies success. All they need to do is to get a person to buy their product ONE TIME in order to consider themselves a success. These days it appears that women are being favored over men due to their income & buying power in the current market. So many homes are run by single parents who are almost exclusively all from the female gender of our society! The up-coming election will set the tone for the next wave of what our society will come to favor as more desireable sex in the future. If a female gets elected, then I suspect the tables will shift & women will be less liked than they once were & are now are, & the men will once again get the upper hand in running things as they once did & will again! This is simply my own personal take on your question. I can't speak for all of society. Just my own personal experience & observations & feelings about how I perceive life & your question.

Western society (organized voluntary association) favored men until the 1960's. The coal miner's went on strike and the the civil rights issues for everyone emerged. Today, the effort by cultural groups to eliminate the distinction between men and women is up front.

The majority of society is conditioned to favor each sex according to their inclinations.

I think that most employers are making every effort to be equitable to both.

Men and so it should be. Women's Lib and all that, men are still the preferred breadwinner. There are obviously exceptions, but, I think the world would be a better place if we allowed men to be the dominant one. I dont blame men for losing themselves in golf and football. Women forgot their roles as mother and nurturer in order to beat their breasts. They're trying to prove that men and women are the same and that's like saying you can change an apple into an orange. There are some men that like taking care of the home and family. There are women who enjoy being the boss. Go ahead-let them, but dont try to convince everyone that we should all do it.

I don't think there is any other answer but men. It is a man's world women have always been second class citizens, we could not be on juries, which is why Lizzie Bordon got off scott free, we could not vote, we could not own property, men could have many wives but women would be put to death if she took another man,she was his servent, his slave. In today's society we do better, but don't you wonder why we have not earned the same pay for the same jobs, why we don't get promations over men, why women cannot get good roles after a certain age, but men do.

depends on what for...
example society tends to favor the women when it comes to divorce or who gets to keep the kids...
society tends to favor men on who gets respect in business.. (a strong business man is refered to kindly where as a strong business woman is called a B*TCH)

so over all neither is favored.. but both are favored more for some things...

I almost gave you a flip answer and said "Society favors the rich more."

But you know what? Maybe that's not so flip after all. I don't think it matters if you're a man or a woman. I can walk into a ritzy store in my saturday slops and the sales clerks all vanish. If I walked in all gussied up, they'd be fawning all over me. My money is just as green, whether I'm dressed up or dressed down.

Men of course, there is still that glass ceiling in the corporate world for women, men are believed to get handsomer as they get older, the silver fox thing, women just get old. Its ok for men to date much much younger women, but for a woman to date a man young enough to be her grandson, people roll their eyes and snicker. Older women in the media are shoved out of their jobs, older men stay because they are "distinguished looking and people trust them for their wisdom and experience". There are more older divorced women then there are men, men are way more likely to remarry. Pensions favour senior men, men in management positions are paid more then women in the same postions and receive higher bonuses. Women are still expected to have TWO fulltime jobs, career and home. The media creates ridiculous expectations for older women. Women are still seen as not needing to have a brain as long as they are cute and have big boobs. Men are more likely to cheat on their partners than women are.

And God bless all those men who ignore ALL these generalizations and treat women with the respect and appreciation they deserve, pay them equally, and employ them because they are intelligent and capable. And do half the housework too.

The natural inclination is to say men, however though some people may personally be prejudice, the government has enacted laws which show favoritism to females.
