I know that its good to publicize criminals for people to be aware but a lot of them commit crimes FOR the fame too. What’s your opinion

Never. They should never recieve any kind of fame for their crimes. However there are the weird ones that will always look at them in awe. It is like rubbernecking a gruesome highway accident. Go figure.

If criminals commit crimes for fame, then they obviously have no other talent than to scare people. Often crimes (like sex crimes, homocides) are about being powerful, and some creepos find it arousing. I guess the media attention they get is based on the details of the crime. The more mutilation and disturbance brought upon the victim, the more society will recognize the wrongdoer for their bizarre behavior. In a sense, the criminal is like an alien (and who would avoid an alien?)

The fame for criminals is supposed to deter the population.
And no matter what you do, crime is going to be interesting.

"FAME" wouldnt b the right word here...
the publicity is necessary to make the general public (aam aadmi) aware of whats happening, and also for the budding criminals to realise how threatening the consequences of that crime can b...
but overt hype by the media can b misguiding and inappropriate.

I agree we should not make celebrities of them.The media is largely responsible for that.They shouldn,t get book or movie deals from their crimes.Even to use the proceeds and give it to the vicitims families is wrong.
