all i have been able to find are books about the history of it from people who are christians themselves, and overlook all the brutality that happened. one i got even said that the spanish inquisition did NOT torture, and never mentioned martin luther! so if anybody has a book title that will give the real history of christianity i would greatly appreciate it.

You have to look for the books published in the Soviet bloc.
They may be less biased, because they were written and filtered by devoted atheists.
For example, Soviet history books (7th grade Medieval History textbook) clearly stated what the Inquisition did, who was Luther (he was a schizophrenic), and how dirty and stinky the Western European cities were.

I would suggest not looking for one book but reading many history books to get a balanced perspective. Don't look for a book just on the history of Christianity. There are many books that do cover subjects like the Inquisition, the Reformation, the crusades, etc. And always remember that it is human beings who write history books, and nothing is unbiased.

What biased books have you read?
Try Will (and with his wife Ariel for some) Durant's series of History.
Just remember, brutality doesn't sell nor does it bring back the victims of brutality.

In my experience, there are NO unbiased books on any religion.
Just remember that every religion thinks all the others are mad!
Good luck!
