About two years ago, we were in the process of remodeling our kitchen. The keys to my Ford Explorer mysteriously disappeared. We looked high and low, including the rows of trash bags full of debris from the kitchen tear-out, through every drawer, under every chair and dresser, and into the debts of the couches and chairs. No keys. Even though I had another set, I asked the Ford dealer about a replacement set. I was told those would cost $100.00! Nope, not me! I'd do without. A year to the day of the great kitchen tear-out (keys forgotten by then), low and behold I came home from work and my husband was waiting at the door, excitedly holding up the missing keys in front of my amazed face! "Where on this earth did you ever find them?" I asked. "I found them in the crack of the couch!" I was dumbfounded! We had looked in that very spot several times before. Was it like an archaeological phenomenon, like when artifacts resurface to the earth's crust over time? Did my guardian angel lovingly place them there? I'll never know for sure. "What made you decide to search the cracks of the couch?" I asked my husband. To which he replied, "I was bored so I decided to look for loose change!" Very profound answer, don't you think?"

You would think we'd be more careful with our keys wouldn't you. Well I was putting out our recycling blue boxes one evening and went back in the house. My husband asked for my keys because he wanted to just run out to the car to get something and didn't want to go all the way upstairs to get his. I keep mine in my pocket so when I went to get them, they weren't there. I thought I was going to go crazy trying to find them because I just had them a half hour before. So then he suggests I backtrack everything I did. I went down to the street and there they were in the blue box! If I had not checked until the next day, they would be gone!

1) In my car. And spent hours looking for them
2) In the toilet, because I was in a hurry to go when I came home. I have a 'thing' about using public toilets.
3) In the front door, as they are attached to my house keys. Open sesame for everyone to just come on in.

One day I went for a motorcycle ride with all my motorcycle buddies. We stopped at McDonalds and we all had our fill of food. Got out to our bikes and everybody started up and here I am still searching my pockets and my purse. Everybdy had to shut off their bikes again and help me look. After suggesting every possible nook and cranny, someone suggested we look in the garbage. I said, "Oh NO i wouldn't throw them there. This friend said, "Abby, lets just look to make sure!" OK we pulled out 2 garbage bags (with everybody watching us) and in the second one, we found my keys. I must have left them on my tray and tossed them away. How embarrasscating!

In the car trunk or the ignition with the door locked. I know it the minute I do it, but by then it's just to late. I finally hung up a key holder in the house, so I won't misplace them there.

One day I put my keys in the back of my outback while putting the groceries inside. Closed the hatch, got in my car and couldn't find my keys. I went inside the store to see if I left them at the checkout... no,..... checked the cart... not there either. For some reason I opened up the hatch again and there they were!

I left my largest set of keys under the hood of my car. (Had been putting anti-freeze in it). The keys were on top of the air filter cover, and when I started the engine (with my 2nd set of keys) the noise was very loud in the garage. But that is how I found them.

In the silverware drawer. I spent hours looking for them, yelling, swearing, running out to the car then back inside, up and down the stairs still yelling and swearing and calling myself names; still couldn't find them. Later, I looked in the silverware drawer for a knife or spoon, and there they were.
Another time, I went through the same routine, then I finally put my hand in my right front pocket - and there they were. Such is life.
