What is the truth about routers and personal firewalls. All books say to disengage personal firewalls if there is a router? Help! I am confused.

I've never seen a book that said to disengage a firewall because of a router. From your incoherent question I don't think it's the internet connection's fault that your confused.

Your question is bigger than that. Do you have a static or dynamic ip addy? What sort of router? What kind of protection do you have enabled in your router? What ports are open and for what? Do a little more research or go flirt with a geek and have him come set up your network! ;)
