Republicans, at election time, -say- they are for Individual Rights and smaller government,
but see how they pass restrictive laws and unconstitutional laws, including the Patriot Act,
and spend more than the liberals ever have.

Democrats -say- they are anti-war, but refuse to
offer up an anti-war Presidential Candidate,
while sitting beside the Republicans,
passing the Patriot Act and funding the Iraq War that they pretend to protest. Ask a Democrat why they won't end the DrugWar. Ask them why they are only Pro-Choice on abortion, but not on other social issues.

Libertarians are sometimes found within these Parties, but usually only because they feel that the Libertarian Party is not effective in American Politics.

Libertarians hold that Individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live the way -they- choose.

RepubliCRATS have regularly operated on the opposite principle, that the State has the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor.

Libertarians, on the contrary, deny the right of any government to do these things, and hold that where governments exist, they must not violate the rights of any individual: namely, (1) the right to life -- accordingly we support the prohibition of the initiation of physical force against others; (2) the right to liberty of speech and action -- accordingly we oppose all attempts by government to abridge the freedom of speech and press, as well as government censorship in any form; and (3) the right to property -- accordingly we oppose all government confiscation, nationalization, and eminent domain, and we support the prohibition of robbery, trespass, fraud, and misrepresentation.

Libertarians do not believe in,
or advocate the initiation of force (or fraud)
as a means of achieving political or social goals.

Libertarians take the time to research the truth that our prohibition laws cause more harm than they do to help solve the drug "problem". Libertarians believe in self-government where people can do as they wish as long as they don't hurt anyone. Today republican has some how become the party of prohibition! Republicans have no become the fundamental Christian society! They believe that people should have to answer to the Bible instead of living in freedom of religion. In all reality Republicans and Democrats have done little of their promises and the libertarian sees and understands this!

They generally side with Republicans, but are more conservative on some issues, and less on others.

Republicans generally want smaller government then Democrats, but Libratarians want smaller government then Republicans. Republicans are not as extreme as Democrats on National Laws vs State Laws, where Libratarians go further then Republican and say that Federal Government should only cover International Affairs, Insterstate Trade, and Common Defense, everything else should be state run.

On the more liberal side of Libratarians, since they do not like Federal Laws, they do not like laws covering guns, alcohol, even drugs should not be outlawed by the Federal Government.

I thought a Jeffersonian Libertarian was a republican, just more far right and didn't like intrusion into their life from the government.

Yeah, you're greater Libertarian than Republican. a extensive element of Republicans are surely Libertarians who merely don't be attentive to it by way of fact the lp isn't besides prevalent. Do I agree? i'm a Libertarian myself so there is alot of overlap. some factors of warfare of words: dying Penalty - you're for it (albeit with a extensive caveat), yet ask your self, in case you do not think of the government would desire to be depended on with working your lifestyles, why believe it with the final capacity...the capacity to end your lifestyles? errors with lifestyles in reformatory could be corrected. errors with dying, not plenty. gay Rights - stable assertion of concept. yet interior the precis that's person-friendly to declare. I hear alot of social conservatives say this besides besides the incontrovertible fact that the subsequent words out of their mouths are caveats like "yet, a marriage is between a guy and lady via definition" or "yet, it could be impractical to enable them to serve interior the militia". would you contain such caveats? i don't, and that i think of maximum Libertarians would not. Taxes is an economic concern, not a social concern. permit me ask however, which might you somewhat have. Tax cuts without spending cuts or spending cuts without tax cuts? for sure in an appropriate economic conservative international we would get the two, yet once you had to flow with, which might you choose? i'd flow with spending cuts over tax cuts myself. Alot of Republicans and Libertarians however are grant-siders and would decide on the choice.

because libertarians believe in keeping laws out of your personal life and a full and complete separation of church and state. They also aren't so keen on the whole big military preemptive war thing.
