Okay all of my daughters are very well let's just say pretty & into fashion. Well my 12 y/o daughter (her name is Scarlett) is different than the other girls. She is way into more of a runway fashion. All of my other girls like to look cute & be comfortable, but Scarlett wants to wear clothes like the runway models. Sexy & "sophisticated" (aka skanky). I have held her back from wearing these types of clothes at all since she was 9. Since she is still "dedicated" to getting to wear some of it should I just let her? She wants to wear high heels, I bought her 2 very tasteful not high at all heels yesterday. (they are brown & black) Should I just give them to her & let her wear them? They were $50 each but her older sister will probaly end up wearing them (they are the same size). I don't want her in any of those skanky clothes, but I bought her a cute little dress that I thought looked similiar to what the runway models were wearing. It was only like $20. It's very cute! Makeup is kept to

a minimum on her face since she does not yet need it. Do you think I am just letting her turn into a skank? or do you think I'm just letting her grow up? I'm a tad confused! Thank you... Ella (sorry this is so long!)

If you completely forbid her of wearing these types of clothes, it's just going to make her wear even skankier clothes when she does get ahold of them when she's older.
However, you are her mother and she can't have what you don't buy her.
I think what you need to do is come to a compromise. For example, she can wear the more sophisticated clothes but she can't wear make up with it. If she wants to wear make up then she will have to wear something more modest.
Honestly, I think this is just a phase. Give it time and soon she'll be begging for something else ridiculous..you just have to guide her through these phases.

So if i read your profile correctly you have 14 children?!?!?!
WOW! you must really enjoy being pregnant. first i want to say that your daughter is totally into this type of clothing it is nice to let her have interests but you calling the clothes "skanky" shows your daughter you don't value her interests at all and i'm sure she knows your thoughts in great detail on how you feel about this type of wear.
I agree completely with the first poster that your daughter should be wearing age appropriate clothing, like "Hello Kitty" or Hilary Duff or Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
High heels are you for real? She should wearing flats and nothing more she is just a child.

Where ARE you planning on drawing the line? You dont keep her from doing something for the sake of keeping her from doing it, you keep her from dressing like a skank at any age because you're instilling her a sense of self worth and morals.
You're training her up to be what you want her to be. If you're okay with her being a 14 year old slut, and not a 12 year old slut, then hold off on everything until she's older.
However, if it were me I would be more concerned about why, in her heart, she feels the need to look like that. And also, I would be mor concerned about why you dont have a sense of integrity that you're trying to put into her.
If you have no standards, she wont either. Be the parent, train her effectively, and have some purpose and plan in that parenting.

A 12 year old doesn't need makeup, and runway clothes, and high heals. I'm sorry but I'm saying that you need to tell her no skanky clothes, no makeup, and no high heals. Unless it's like a school dance, or a special occasion. But just going to school, whats wrong with a t shirt, jeans or mini skirt, and sandals?

i'd say just let her have the heels and dress, etc. why don't you go shopping together instead? then you can compromise on what to wear.
